A Note from Mr. Bender

Dear Families,

Thank you to everyone that attended a parent-teacher conference this week. Our teachers enjoyed meeting with families and sharing the great work our students are doing! If you were not able to attend a conference, it’s not too late. Please reach out to your child’s teacher to set up a time to meet.

Thank you to Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Jones for organizing the Kids Heart Challenge fundraiser. Our students and families raised over $10,000 for the American Heart Association, and Mrs. Jones was a great sport getting a pie in the face on the morning announcements! Way to go, Cubs!

Did you know that 2020-2021 yearbooks are currently on sale? Please see below for more information on ordering yours!

Have a great weekend!

Mike Bender

Big picture

Written by Lupita Nyong’o and illustrated by Vashti Harrison

When five-year-old Sulwe's classmates make fun of her dark skin, she tries lightening herself to no avail, but her encounter with a shooting star helps her understand there is beauty in every shade.

The purpose of this annual program is to foster a love of reading in the children of Georgia and to introduce students to books of literary excellence. After reading at least ten of the twenty nominees, students will vote for their favorite book. All votes will be submitted to the University of Georgia in late February.
