Technology Tuesday Feedback 9/22
The Great, Areas of Improvement, and Potential for Growth
The Great (The Good)
Shout out to everyone's that made our launch of Technology Tuesday a great success. I could not have been more proud. There was not one class that I witnessed integrating technology that I was not impressed with. It was evident that much thought, planning, and preparation went into making it engaging, meaningful, and memorable for our students. I witnessed 100% engagement, students on task, teachers and students excited, students giving teachers praise, anticipation for when and what they will learn next, meaningful discussions, and above all LEARNING.Areas of Improvement (The Bad)
We are in this together. I will confess that I have the vision but, will we make mistakes YES. It will be through our mistakes that we will grow and become a better network of resources for each other. The areas for improvement I would like to see is the systems we have in place to manage our classrooms. I want us to continue for our environments to look formal. These are the areas i would like for us as a campus to continue to improve;
BYOD devices
Poster are being made and should be here by the end of the week for print services. There need to be a system for when students know they will be using their devices, ex. Remind, a basket to hold them on the table, cup system (red, yellow, green cups on desk). I would also like to make sure classrooms are locking cabinets and securing devices.
Asking questions
We are all busy and overwhelmed at times. I am not going to give myself the excuse that it is OK. Please come to me at anytime, ask questions, get clarity. I am available to meet with your team, individually, your PLC, or just a call away. We are a team and we are in this together. You are not alone this integration and no one is the expert, including myself. Let's learn, grow, and explore integration together. If you want to know how to do anything related to making you meet the expectation of your position here are Budewig and it relates to the computer. Call on me, that is what I'm here for. I will give you this one disclaimer, I am gold on the color wheel. If you can avoid last minute then let's go for it.
Preparation
Many of us learned this lesson on the first Tech Tuesday. Everything you can do in advance, please do it. If that is downloading your MyOn books on the devices, setting up Remind, playing with the App, and even testing students accessibility because there clearances are different, then do so in advance. Preparation will continue to be key. I really was impressed overall. These are what I call growing pains. The lesson usally comes through the mistake but, if we can continue to share with each other our mistakes, we can avoid it for ourselves.
Potential for Growth (Ugly)
Emails and Expectations
Please make sure you are reading your email so you are getting the most updated information for yourself.
Rely on your tech committee member.
When expectations go out, please make sure you do your best to meet them. I did not a title from everyone and many were late. Many people did not get their feedback. Let's do what we can to support the systems that are in place to maximize this movement. All Tech Tuesday signs should be outside.
All content areas will integrate technology. Please make sure there has been a discussion and prior approval if that is on a day other than Tuesday. Electives are expected to integrate technology on Tuesday's.
