Volunteers Needed!
We will need a number of parents (or other adult family members) to act as coaches and judges on the day of the event, and most importantly, to help with some practice times (4 to 6) leading up to the event--after school, either at school or at your home, with your assigned group of kids. Without these crucial parent helpers, we cannot compete. Last year, Mrs. Cardo and I had a very convenient common class period first thing in the morning, so we were able to do a lot of the practicing during that time. This year, we are working with a different schedule, and we have no available time to make this practice happen. So without your generous help, the Science Olympics will not be possible. Here is what would be involved in volunteering as a team coach: You will need to supervise at least 4 practice sessions with your group of Olympians. We will have some practice times set up at school over the two weeks before the Olympics competition, and you can meet your team after school on those day to practice. Or if our practice days won't work for you, it would be fine for you to meet on another more convenient day at school, and use space at school for your practices. Can't make it after school? You could hold your team's practices at your home on days that could work for everyone on your team. Knowledge of science is not necessary. All coaches will be trained by the teachers, and provided with all needed materials. Please consider helping us with this event--you will have a blast and so will your student! If you are interested in helping , watch for the sign up sheet coming home this week. Thank you for helping to bring excellent science education to Pilgrim students! We are really looking forward to this science adventure. Go Pilgrim!

Listed below are the volunteers who will be needed to make this year's event happen. If it is more convenient for you to team up with another parent to coach an event and split the practice times between you, that will work. If you are able to help, please email me at ktighe@pilgrimchicago.org or send back the form that will come home with your student. Please respond by Monday, October 5th, so we can get this science show on the road! Thank you for your partnership!
