A Note From Mrs. Waters
Ramadan Mubarak!
Leveled reading books will no longer go home as all school books need to be returned. Please have your child continue reading daily from books at home or on Raz-kids. They should also be playing the math games to practice their fluency.
Each day, please be sure to check the ABC Countdown to the end of the year in case your child needs to wear something or bring something in to school that day. For example, on Monday for day O, students should dress as their Older self.
Below you will see what we will be working on in class, information from the office and other important dates.
Reading
Students will participate in a fairy tale Reader’s Theater. They will work on their reading fluency and having their character come alive.
Writing
Math
Students will be using strategies to add two two-digit numbers together and work on solving word problems.
Social Studies
Ramadan
During Ramadan school starts at 9:00 am and ends at 2:30 pm. Morning supervision starts at 8:45 am when gate 6 opens to students. Furthermore, during Ramadan Tuesdays will not be PACT days and dismissal on Tuesdays will be at 2:30 pm.
Since we typically do not have students fasting in the lower elementary division, there are no changes to our snack/lunch procedures. Food services continue to operate as usual in the elementary cafeteria to serve students who are not fasting.
The windows of these eating areas are covered during Ramadan. Any fasting students in lower elementary has the option of spending snack/lunch and recess time in the library or another designated area.
Upcoming dates in the Library!
The library will follow Ramadan hours, and so, will open at 8.45am and close at 2.45pm
each day.
Thursday, May 24th: Last day for turn in of books
Tuesday, May 29th - Thursday, May 31st: Summer checkout (15 books per child with
parent permission)
