World Fit Walk
This year, Dwyer students, as well as Smith and Sowers students, will be teaming up with Olympians in World Fit Walk. World Fit Walk is a foundation run by Gary Hall, Colonel Micki King, and John Spengler, which has made it their mission to eradicate childhood obesity and improve children’s health and attitude towards fitness.
For the next 40 days, April 24th- June 2nd, students will be tracking their physical activity, on and off campus. At the end of the 40 days, students will have an opportunity to meet, and take pictures with Olympians like Genai Kerr.
Students will log their activity throughout the week at worldfit.org Any activity completed off campus will be logged in the amount of duration, and will be converted into miles.
Want to get in on the action, but don’t go to Dwyer? You can register as a buddy, and donate half of your miles to any student participating in World Fit Walk. To do so, simply go to the World Fit website. Under login, there is an option for buddies to register. Complete the form, select the school, and find the student you want to donate to.

Student's in Mr. Keenan's class proudly display their research projects about extinct organisms. Did you know that 95% of species that have existed on our planet are now extinct? Students chose from as early as the Cambrian Period all the way to modern day Quaternary Period.
Isn't it great to see students so engaged in inquiry? Students in Mrs. Brown's class worked on the marshmallow masher lab where they saw, firsthand, that air and pressure effect the atmosphere.
Please follow us @dwyerjroilers for updates on what is happening at Dwyer.
40 Years of Service
Mrs. Gloria Cerda received her service pin from HBCSD on Friday during lunch. She has worked for the school district in Nutrition Services for 40 years, 28 of those years at Dwyer! We sure appreciate her dedication and her love for the kids!
Lunch on the Lawn!
What a fun Friday! Students were allowed to eat on the field today, in response to persuasive letters that were written by Mrs. Convery's classes. We will keep this going as long as the campus stays clean!
Worms, Worms, Everywhere!
Students experienced worms in a whole new way in science. They observed parts of the earthworms and experimented with how worms react to trials of water droplets on different body segments.
