Donations for OES Extended Care/Latchkey
Spring cleaning time has arrived!
As people are cleaning out cabinets, closets, and getting ready for garage sales, please keep our OES Extended Care Program (formerly called LatchKey) in mind for possible donations.
We can always use toys, games, puzzles, boxes of crayons, markers or colored pencils, and glue sticks.
We also have a Wii game system and could use extra controllers or school appropriate games that your family has outgrown. G rated DVDs would also be a bonus to our program as well as arts and crafts supplies. We also always need tissues if you have an extra box or two.
Any donations to the OES Extended Care Program (Latchkey) are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off in the office for us. Any item received that we deem to be unsuitable for our program use will be donated to Good Will. Thank you so much for thinking of our program.
State Testing Update
Below is the testing schedule for all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students:
Thursday, April 21st: Math Part 1 (Grades 3-5)
Friday, April 22nd: Math Part 2 (Grades 3-5)
Tuesday, April 26th: Social Studies Part 1 (Grade 4) & Science Part 1 (Grade 5)
Wednesday, April 27th: Social Studies Part 2 (Grade 4) & Science Part 2 (Grade 5)
What can parents do to help?
While state testing is never our primary focus here at OES, we still strive to give our students their best chance possible. Parents can help with this by ensuring students are at school on the dates listed above, have had a good night sleep, and a healthy breakfast. At school we focus on encouraging students to do their best and show us what they know, reiterating that at home might help students feel less stress regarding taking these tests.
As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns! Thank you for your assistance in giving our students their best education possible!
Cafeteria News
As many of you are aware, we have allowed student’s to charge meals this year. As we are approaching the end of the year we will no longer allow charging. STARTING APRIL 5th there will be NO CHARGING of meals. If the student does not have enough money on their account to cover the meal at the elementary they will receive a cheese sandwich. At the jr. high/high school their lunch will be pulled.
If a jr. high/high school student isn’t sure if they have enough money on their account they should ask the cashiers prior to going through the meal line.
We also have some students who are on free and reduced lunches with outstanding balances, they must be paid. These balances occurred prior to the paperwork being received by the cafeteria. You are responsible for the charges. The charges do not go away at the end of the school year. If they are not paid they are carried over to the following year.
If you have a senior with meal charges, they must be paid for you student to walk in graduation ceremonies.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you,
Jeanne L. Jeffers

REMINDERS
SAVE ALUMINUM CAN TABS
Please help our students by collecting tabs from aluminum cans. Each tab is easy to remove and can be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. The tabs help fund various projects for Ronald McDonald Houses and its visitors. Send the tabs in a bag to the school and our students will do the rest!
SAVE BOX TOPS AND CAMPBELLS SOUP LABELS
You can help the school earn money for supplies by collecting Box Tops and Campbells labels from soup, juices and snacks. Our PTO collects and counts them and puts the money straight back into the school.
