Citizens Make Major Decisions

Quotes and Analysis
- In The short story “Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell it says “’We'll visit my training school,’ smiled the general. ‘It's in the cellar. I have about a dozen pupils down there now. They're from the Spanish bark San Lucar that had the bad luck to go on the rocks out there. A very inferior lot, I regret to say’” (Connell 8).
-
Connell statement on page 8 is saying that the sailors on the San Lucar never had a choice to stay on the island and be captured by a complete psycho path and be practically on death row. Showing that the “government” on the island made the major decision to instead of helping these sailors, but to kill them instead. This helps support my thesis by showing that because the general runs the whole island how he wants making the sailors suffer and are imprisoned because general Zaroff has complete control.
-
In the small story “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson says “Some places have already quit lotteries. Mr. Adams said” (Jackson 4).

this quote helps back that the lottery is highly disliked by lots. Now those towns won’t have to kill someone and are able to make their own decisions. This helps supports my thesis by showing that the younger generation believes the lottery is too outdated.
