An open letter to 6th Grade Students:
Dear 6th grader,
The first day of school is right around the corner! You may have some fears or questions around what to expect and the unknown can give anyone the jitters! Friedell wants you to know that we are here to support you in any way you need. Some things that you may be nervous about are:
1. Will I make friends? Of course! There are many opportunities to meet friends, whether it is sitting next to someone in advisory or at lunch. Make the most of your free time and introduce yourself. Practice conversation starters and handshakes with your family! Advisory teachers have lots of fun activities planned to help create a safe and fun community.
2. Will I able to get my locker open? You bet you will! Students practice, practice, practice opening those lockers until they are pros! Remember, everyone is learning how to open a new locker!
3. What if I am late to class? You might be! But don’t worry because it happens every year! Staff members are very flexible with bell schedules when students are learning their way around!
4. Will classes be hard? We hope so! We want kids to grow and feel challenged! But, don’t worry, we will never you more than you can handle! And, if you need help, we’ve got your back!
There are some things you can do to make the first day of school a success…
1. Get a good night’s rest before the first day of school.
2. Eat a healthy breakfast
3. Pick out your clothes the night before
4. Wake up 15 minutes early on the first day so there is no rush!
5. Keep a friendly and positive attitude (even if you feel scared inside)
6. Attend schedule pickup on August 20th so you can feel more familiar with the building and staff on the first day of school
We can’t wait to meet you! You’ve got this!!!!
