SHISD Mid-Week Message
Promoting Great Things in a Great School District
Watch this Video! "Every Opportunity"
This video is a powerful example of the power every member of the Spring Hill ISD family has each and every day to build up or tear down our students and each other.
The video begins with a young student explaining what it feels like to him when an adult ignores him or loses patience with him. When he begins his day, he is happy and upbeat. As the day continues, his interactions with adults leave him deflated. It’s hard to watch.
The video was created by the Atlanta Speech School, a comprehensive school for language and literacy. Their focus is to illustrate how teachers, school bus drivers, and other school staff (through small everyday changes showing kindness inside and outside the classroom) can enhance a child’s ability to thrive and learn. Ultimately the video shows examples of how teachers, school bus drivers, and school staff can make the most of every interaction with students.
“Everyone a child meets throughout the day can make a difference – all the difference,” said Comer Yates, Executive Director of the Atlanta Speech School in a press release. “Every time a child is ignored, or yelled at or silenced, a teacher takes away what is possible. As the video exemplifies, each of these moments can be missed opportunities to empower a child and develop their vocabulary.”
I am thankful every day for the difference our teachers, staff, cafeteria workers, custodians, bus drivers, and coaches make in the lives of our students at Spring Hill ISD. It is the family atmosphere that makes this school district special. Do not take your students for granted. Inspire! Thank you for taking daily opportunities to make a POSITIVE difference in the lives of students.
High School Teachers are great at "Framing the Lessons"! I was able to visit classrooms and saw some great lesson frames. "Framing the Lesson:" visible and updated! Thanks for emphasizing the details. The research does not lie- Framing the lesson enhances students understanding! ~ Mr. Lind.
Spring Hill XC did an outstanding job, and left pumped and ready for the next meet! SH had many students cut off 3-5 minutes from last year's first race, and many were faster than their BEST time last year!! From 7th to 12th these kids raced amazing and they truly represented themselves, team and community very well. ~ Coach Alford!
Kudos to Steve Snell for his dedication and diligence for making the first home game at the new stadium a huge success. Mr. Snell has brought tremendous enthusiasm and school spirit to the campuses and to the community!!! ~ Mr. Lind

Three Spring Hill High School Seniors Selected for Texas Bank and Trust Board of Directors
We are pleased to announce that three Spring Hill High School seniors have been chosen to serve on the Texas Bank and Trust 2016-2017 Student Board of Directors. The TB&T Student Board is a prestigious program recognizing outstanding high school seniors in the community. SHHS seniors joined with 51 other seniors from Trinity School of Texas, Longview, Pine Tree, and St. Mary’s High Schools make up the 38th senior class to participate in the TB&T program.
The participating seniors from SHISD include Avery Barnhill, Gabe Johnson, and Grace Stark.
As in years past, the Student Board program is designed to introduce students to banking and money management at a critical point in their lives, and provide them with the essential economic building blocks to earning, spending, saving, and investing money. The students will be challenged this year to test their innovation and creative skills with a program, entitled Back to Basics. The Student Board members will have eight months to help the bank design a digital episode of its TB&T short web series.
Students were selected based on their grade point average, extra-curricular activities, and after school work activities. Students must submit an essay with their application as well as two letters of recommendation from either a faculty member or administrator to be considered for the program.
Thank you TB&T for sponsoring such a great program!
