February Pre-Meeting Video
Meeting Snack Patrol and Reminders
Our next meeting is February 5, 2020 at the Career Center in the IOL Room. We will begin at 8am.
On snack patrol we have: Mahanay, Martin, Outley, Petrosky, and Killough.
Make sure to watch the Pre-Meeting video prior to the meeting and bring all needed items to the meeting.
Meeting Action Items
From our January meeting, there are several action items that each librarian needs to be working on.
- Little Free Libraries: Discuss the location with your ILT, Discuss the painting with your Fine Arts teachers by 2/4/2020.
- Fill out the 2020-2021 Extended Hours Form (all campuses that want to participate in Extended Hours) by Friday 1/31/20.
- Configure your Destiny Discover HomePage and decide how you want to move forward with your campus library webpage by 2/4/2020.
Alief Education Foundation Grants
Have a great idea for innovation in your library? The 2020-21 Alief Education Foundation Innovative Education Grants are open. Information about the grant and timeline can be found in the attached handout. Several librarians have received these grants in the past.
TLA School Administrators Conference
Is your administrator interested in attending the TLA Conference for FREE? Administrators that attend a four hour School Administrators Conference on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, receive complementary registration to the full TLA Conference.

District MakerSpace Funds
- If you haven't already spent your District MakerSpace Funds, please start planning this purchase.
- These funds need to be spent by February 29, 2020.
Destiny 17.5 Coming Soon!
- Destiny version 17.5 will be releasing during the month of February. There is a webinar that will walk you through the new features and functionality that comes with this new release.
- The webinar is February 25th at 2pm CST.
- Even if you can't attend the live webinar, signing up for the webinar enables you to have access to the recording of the webinar once it is published.
- This webinar would also be great for your ParaProfessionals.

Compliance Checks Upcoming
In early February I will be checking the following:
- Monthly Reports - all months through January
- Extended Hours Spreadsheet - has all information through January been filled out, has at least half of the allotted money been spent
- MakerSpace Spreadsheet
Are your reports / spreadsheets up to date?
Setting The Trend
Setting the Trend will be June 4, 2020. This is a free blended learning experience especially for librarians and library paraprofessionals. Registration is open and there is still space for presenters to submit presentations.
Attendees will receive 7 hours of Alief Professional Development when they attend.
TLA Annual Convention
The TLA Annual Convention will be March 24-27 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. If you haven't yet talked to your principal about attending, now is the time as registration is open.
Also, the convention organizers are looking for volunteers to assist with all the logistics. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the Volunteer Form.
