Meet the new Math & Science Standards
“I hope we give it the time,” Schweingruber said. “One problem in education reform is, people have unrealistic expectations about how quickly you change it. If you know it’s a huge ship, you have to give it some time before you decide it’s not working.”
Ask A Scientist / Engineer Night for Grades 6-12
Local scientists and engineers from our community e.g. from business, industry, UCI etc. will be on hand to help you and advise you on your project. IUSD science teachers will also be present to advise you.
Please Note : Extra credit is not available for attending Ask-A-Scientist Night.
Parking : You may park on Yale where it says "No Parking" for this evening only, as Irvine Police will not be ticketing for the event.

“Designing Mathematics Classes to Promote Equity and Engagement”

Jo Boaler and her graduate students describe the design of mathematics instruction for a 5-week summer school course that enabled a broader, colorful mathematics to emerge. The three teaching principles were:
· Engage students as active and capable learners
· Teach content through the mathematical practices
· Encourage a collaborative community
