Remembrance Day......how do you say thank you?
“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” – John 15:13 (NLT)
November 11, Remembrance Day, a day for us to honour the sacrifices made by so many to preserve the freedom, peace, and future of our nation. A day for us to remember the thousands who made the ultimate sacrifice.
There are thousands of heroic stories that can be shared on this day. These are stories of lives cut short and families losing spouses, siblings, children, and parents. The losses have been enormous, and the freedom that has been preserved is priceless.
One must wonder how we can best remember those who have given their lives for our continued freedom. Jesus said, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13). How can we honour the sacrifices that continue to be made?
Our freedom that we enjoy came at a cost. How do you show thanks for that freedom that we can enjoy so much? I wonder whether it is an opportunity for us to bless and serve others?
The freedom that we enjoy was not purchased with gold or silver but with the blood, sweat, and tears of the ones that we honour today.
Just as Jesus did, paid the ultimate sacrifice, for us. Jesus, The God who put on human flesh and became one of us, gave His life for all of us.
Through His ultimate sacrifice, we are no longer enslaved to sin, but we are children of God who have been set free to live lives that honour Him and bring peace to the world.
On Remembrance Day, we are reminded that there is no greater love than sacrificial love. As we go about living the life that is filled with freedoms and peace, what do you do to thank God and our Service Men and Women for their sacrifices?
I cant help but feel, that in sharing His love in service and blessings to others we are sharing gratitude and thanks for the country that we have today.
