JBD FAMILY FOCUS
November 20, 2020
We appreciate our JBD families so much!
As I pop into Google Meets, I am seeing break-out rooms, morning meetings, and engaging instruction. Parents, I know this is so hard on you all as you find yourself home and facilitating the learning again. Keeping the students on track was hard enough in the spring and summer-now with the holidays around the corner, distractions are inevitable.
At this point, we do not know what our return date is, except that it is not until after Thanksgiving. Keeping an eye on the metrics on www.vbschools.com will give you a basic idea, but the final word will come from Dr. Spence. Hold on for the ride, we WILL get through this.
In the meantime, I will close by saying how thankful I am for all of our children and parents for your support and partnership in your child's education journey. As educators, we always knew the importance of parent support, but now more than ever, it's so crucial. There is no way the JBD teachers can do the job alone and you all are stepping up to the plate.
Please accept my heartfelt Thanksgiving wishes. It is my wish that you all have a very happy holiday with your families. Teachers have been asked to not assign any homework, so that all may enjoy relaxing family time.
If you need anything at all, we are here for you-just let us know.
Most sincerely,
Mrs. Bianchi, Principal

African village shoe drive
Hello students, families and friends of John B. Dey,
Kathy Morris’s son Cody has a friend in the Air Force stationed in Africa. The village outside of the Air Force base is very poor and the people don’t have shoes. Cody’s friend has started a shoe drive to distribute to the village. Cody has started to collect shoes to ship over there.
We would like to help him reach his goal of 100 pairs of shoes.
If you would like to donate used shoes of any size (adult and child) please put them in a plastic bag and drop them in the blue recycle can outside the main entrance on or before Wednesday, November 25.
The shoes will be shipped Saturday, November 28th for arrival before Christmas.
Thank you in advance for any shoe donations you may have.
FUN CRAFT FOR KIDS!
A simple no-cook playdough recipe that you can have kids help make includes-
2 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
1 cup cold water
1 tbsp oil
Liquid food coloring
Step 1- in a large bowl, add the flour and salt. Stir.
Step 2- add the water, oil, drops of food coloring (add as many drops as you like to get the desired hue)
Step 3- knead the mixture until it has a play dough consistency (you may need to help with this bit to ensure it's well kneaded).
