Welcome Back!!
Updated August 14, 2019 with new Electronics Regulation
Where has the summer gone? The cooler, dark mornings are a certain sign that the start of school is not too far away. It is hard to believe that school starts in just a few weeks on Thursday, September 5th. This newsletter contains some useful information as you start to get your high school student ready to come back to Thomas. As you can see from the photos above, we some areas of the school that are still under construction. It has been a very busy summer planning for the new year, hiring new staff and cleaning up the other parts of the school to be ready on opening day!
Student schedules are being mailed out by end of this week and will be viewable on the Parent Portal beginning on Monday, August 19th. We have posted the school supply list onto the website so that families can take advantage of those mid-August sales and beat the rush once school starts. There is a link below to access that information.
The high school is open over the coming weeks from approximately 7:00 a.m. until 4 p.m. for students to set up their lockers and find their classrooms. I have run into a few returning students and freshmen who are finding their way around. With schedules arriving home soon, I am sure we will see many of our students next week. The more students plan ahead, the smoother the first day will go.
Welcome back! It is going to be an outstanding school year!

Student Schedules…
The GOLD colored schedule that you will soon receive in the mail reflects the requests made throughout the course selection process last year. You will notice that study halls do not have rooms or teachers assigned yet.
On the first day of school, students will receive a new BLUE copy of their schedule in their opening day homeroom. The new schedule will have locations and staff for study halls. All Seniors and Juniors with a GPA of 90 or above, will have unassigned time in their schedules in place of study halls. This privilege allows these student the choice of where and how to spend time within the building. Wandering and switching locations once a choice has been made is not allowed. For juniors, this privilege will be reviewed at 20 weeks and adjusted based on their academic standing.
All scheduling questions should go through your school counselor at the numbers above.
Getting ready for opening day…
Freshman Orientation & Link Crew
Freshman Parent Night is Monday, August 26th at 7:00 in the school auditorium. I invite all 9th grade parents and students to come in, learn more about our great school and tour the building to get familiar with the locations of lockers and classrooms.
On Tuesday, August 27th, Freshmen will arrive at 8:00 for their LinkCrew Orientation. Students should enter through the main doors and make their way down to the cafeterias. These sessions are student guided by our outstanding LinkCrew Juniors and Seniors and lasts from 8:00am to 12:00.
We also have a special orientation session for new students who are upperclassmen and might not feel comfortable spending 4 hours with freshmen. This session is a little more laid back and runs from 9-11am on 8/27. Please call Mrs. Marcello in the counseling center at 670-0811 to let us know if you plan to attend the 9-10 orientation for transfers/upperclassmen. When you arrive, check in at the main office if you are coming in for the new student orientation.
Locker Night
We also have an additional opportunity for families to come in and get set for day one. Join us for Locker Night on Thursday, August 29th. The school will be open from 6-8 pm for families to come in, set up lockers and walk student schedules. Your class advisors will be on hand as well to meet our newest Titans. Join us for this pre-opening day event.

We Have A New Start Time...
First Day of School
ALL students begin their first day of classes on Thursday, September 5th at 8:45 a.m. Students will start with their Homeroom and we will then follow an “A day” schedule. Homerooms are quite infrequent during the year and are listed on the schedule. We will also have alpha listings of homerooms around the school as well as staff assisting students in finding their homeroom on opening day. Students who are late or seniors with late arrival on A days can pick up their schedule in the Counseling Center. Students who attend EMCC will depart Thomas at 7:35 and exit through the North Cafeteria doors.

Lunch Accounts-
As many of you know, parents can put money on their children’s lunch accounts online. I use this service with my own children and it certainly makes things easy. Payments can be made by cash or check (Payable to: Webster Food Service) and should be sent with your child and handed in right at the cash register during lunch. When you need to add money to your child's account we ask that it be made in $5.00 increments. We accept cash at the registers. However, we encourage students to use the prepaid system instead of cash to avoid lost money and allow for faster service.
An on-line prepayment service (www.myschoolbucks.com) also available as a downloadable app, is available for parents to deposit money into their child's account. At no charge parents can view account balances, purchases, and set up low balance alerts sent to an email address.
To use the on-line pre-payment system, first visit the district Website, http://www.schoolnutritionandfitness.com/index.php?sid=1464121635098&page=prepaidacct
click on Departments.
1. Click on the Lunch Menus quick link.
2. Click on myschoolbucks.com link.
3. You will need your child's name, student id number and our school zip code – 14580.
If you have any questions or need help with the above directions, please contact the Food Service Department at 670-5104. School lunch menus are posted in each school building. In addition, they are published in the Webster Herald, Webster Post and the Webster Pennysaver and can be found on the district website (www.websterschools.org). Menus are automatically sent to individual email addresses by signing up at the bottom of the district web page. E-News.
If you think your child might qualify for Free or Reduced priced meals please see the district web page above, click "Quick Links" and F/R Application. Follow the instructions to print and complete the paper application or follow the directions to submit your application electronically. If your child has dietary restrictions based on medical needs, accommodation can be made. Please contact the district Food Service Office at 670-5104 for necessary paperwork and procedures.
