Back to School Night
Thanks to all of you for creating a welcoming environment at Rice, especially tonight. The parents will follow an abbreviated schedule this evening beginning at 6:30. Classes will run for 10 minutes, with a 4 minute passing period in between classes. We will allow parents to enter the school hallways at 6:10, so be prepared for the masses! We have requested parents only, but you never know who will show up!
Thanks again for all you do and in appreciation for the lengthy night tonight, you may wear jeans (with a nice shirt!) the rest of the week.
Back to School Night:
Is next Tuesday starting at 6:30, we will be opening the doors between 6:00-6:10 to allow parents to get to their child's 1st period class. Remember this is the night the parents follow their child's schedule for the night. The class periods are 10 minutes long with a passing period in between the classes. We hope to be finished by 8:10. Please remind your students this week about this event and also request that only their parents attend. Here is a link to the schedule.
If you are being appraised this year, don't forget to complete your TSR part 1.
Cultural Competency Training:
Don't forget we will have a mandatory Cultural Competency training after school on Thursday, September 17. We are buying pizza for the staff, please plan to be here until at least 5:00.
We are set to have our third annual Pep Rally/Parade on Wednesday, October 14 at 9:00. The band will also be traveling to the 8th grade football game that evening. Please email me if you would like to be a part of the planning committee. We need to start hammering out details!
All teachers should have received their goals and accommodations trackers last week. If you haven't received yours yet, please email Christi Langley.
We will start Wednesday School next Wednesday, September 9 after school in the Learning Lab.
Thanks to all of you who have been taking attendance regularly, please continue to do so. Also, I know we are getting into the swing of things, please try to dismiss your students on time.
We will have copy volunteers again this year. Please make sure you aren't sending confidential materials like tests or anything else you don't want someone to previews or keep ahead of time to the copy room. Take care of these copies yourself, or have them sent to the copy center.
If you have an idea for a Professional Learning Community, please let me know. We all have some great experiences and skills which would be great to share with each other. Also, if there is a need you would to have training on, please let me know as well.
If you would like to learn more about Smore, or would like to use it for getting information out, please let me know. I have set up a school account for those of you who are interested to use.
This is the link to the powerpoint that was used for the first of the year inservice. You need to log in with your PISD account information in order to view the information.
Rice's Bragging and Reflection Form
International Dot Day
Mrs. Johnson from the library, is going to be sending out information in regards to an idea she has for International Dot Day. I think it's a great idea to have our students leave their mark this semester at Rice!
