Week 4: Fall 2019
September 3-6
A Note From Your Directors
Staley Band Families,
It was wonderful to meet so many families on Thursday! Thank you to those who also went out to Bahama Bucks to support the band! Our next spirit night is September 10th at Mooyah on Main!
ALL Band students: If you have not already turned in your paperwork then please get that in ASAP! If your student has a Form 5 then please make sure to get that back in as well. Now that instruments have gone home you should be hearing practicing at home. Sometimes that can be a daunting experience as some students don't know what to practice but I have included some things each group should be practicing. In addition, I've included a few links on how to access a metronome.
Beginning Band: Please ensure you have obtained all of the required supplies including an instrument if you are renting. We opened cases this week and we would hate for any student to fall behind. Please reach out ASAP if there is a concern.
Advanced Band: All canvas assignments were paused last week due to technical issues but are now back up and running. Please ensure your student is recording and submitting their assignments in canvas each week. We have shown them how to record and upload but please reach out if there is a question or concern. Sectionals continue this week and all Monday sectionals will be during class. Happy Labor Day!

Still Need to Rent an Instrument?
Please let your band director know if you are having a difficult time reserving an instrument or if you are needing any help in the process.
(Oboe, Bassoon, Horn, Euphonium, and Tuba do not need to rent an instrument as these are school owned)
Private Lessons
- Lessons play a vital role in the individual students success in band! Lesson are for the students who might be a little behind, and even for those who are excelling and would like an added enriching challenge.
- By visiting www.staleyband.org/lessons you will be taken to our web page to enroll in lessons.
- Once the form is completed, Ms. Hoffman will match you with the appropriate private instructor. Each private instructor is officially background checked with FISD.
We are eagerly waiting to hear back from flute, horn, and clarinet instructors.
Practicing!!
Below are some things you should be hearing during practice:
Beginners: Rhythm couning out of their 'Count Me In' book, Music ABC chants, Brass - mouthpiece buzzing. Perc - Rudiments from class
