1870 - France gave up territory along the German Border
As part of its plan to unify Germany, Prussia forced France to give up territory along the German border. Then France and Germany became enemies.
1870 - The Triple Alliance
The Triple Alliance was a military alliance among Germany, Austria–Hungary, and Italy. It lasted from 20 May 1882 until World War I in 1914.
1894 - Franco Russian Alliance
It was a military alliance between the French Third Republic and the Russian Empire. The alliance ended the diplomatic isolation of France and undermined the supremacy of Germany in Europe.
1898 - Germany began building a large modern navy
Germany began building a large navy that would eventually start wars between them and Britain
1908 - Austria-Hungary seized Bosnia
Austria-Hungary took over Bosnia
1915 - (February) Germans started using U-Boats
The U-Boats sunk and destroyed many ships.
1915 - (May 7th) U-Boat sank the British passenger ship the Lusitania
A U-Boat sank the British passenger ship, the Lusitania, killing over 1,000 passengers including 128 Americans.
1916 - (March) the U.S torpedoed a French ship
Americans sunk a French Ship
1916 - American Election Year
Wilson wins his second election but barley.
1916 - Germans ruled the sky with fighter planes
Germany brought out the fighter planes to give a different perspective of the war. They were often shot down but when they were still in good shape, they were extremely fatal with machine guns and bombs.
1916 - The British introduced the armored tank
There was also a different type of weapon used. The armored tank was introduced. It was a great source of protection and destruction but was also a big target.
1917 - American Loans with allies were over 2 billion dollars
America loaned 2 billion to other allies in a for a big risk.
1917 - (January) the U.S intercept the Zimmerman telegram
Zimmerman sent a telegram promising American land to Mexico if they would declare war on the United States.
1917 - (Feb 3 - March 21) U-Boat attacks sink 7 more American ship
U boats sink 7 American ships, leaving the U.S very upset.
1917 - (April 2) President Wilson petitions for War on Germany
President Wilson petitioned for War on Germany. Congress approves and the US is at war.
1917 - (Spring) WWI devastates Europe
Europe is completely destroyed after ww1, everything is in ruins.
1917 - Germans started using poison gas
The Germans first used poison gas. Gas caused vomiting, blindness, and suffocation.
1917 - (March) riots broke out causing Nicholas II to leave causing riots in the empire.
Riots broke out in Russia causing Czar Nicholas II, the leader of the Russian Empire, to leave his thrown.

1917 - Australian soldiers load an artillery shell during the Battle of Passchendaele
It required many soldiers to load the artillery. But this was one of the first times using it against the enemy.
1917 - (July 4) American expeditionary force arrives in Paris
Help arrives in Paris for the Americans.
1918 - (March 3) Lenin agrees to the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with Germany
Under this treaty Russia gave up the Ukraine, its Polish and Baltic Territories and Finland with the eastern front settled Germany could focus on the west

It was a part of the final Allied offensive of World War I that stretched along the entire Western Front.
1918 - (March 21) Germany launched its last offense
Germany launched a massive gas attack and artillery bombardment along the western front
1918 - (June 1) American and French troops blocked the Germans from Paris
American and French troops blocked the German drive from Paris at the town of Chateau-Thierry.

Germany became a republic. Then, later the government stopped fighting.
1919 - (June 28) Treaty of Versailles
It was one of the peace treaties at the end of World War I. It ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. It was signed on 28 June 1919, exactly five years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
