Steps to Help Students Successfully Transition to Distance Learning Opportunities
While we are under official orders to physically close our school campuses through June 19, 2020, this does not mean that the school year is over. Instead, it highlights the importance of our continued focus on distance learning opportunities.
TVUSD is committed to providing students with resources and strengthening our delivery of education through distance learning. We have transitioned from in-person classroom instruction to distance learning. Distance learning can look a little different for each school and even each teacher, so we encourage you to be flexible and make sure you are participating in communication opportunities with teachers. TVUSD's distance learning program opportunities will be available for all students. For our special education families, communication will be shared with you directly from the special education team.
Students will be held "harmless", and will not receive a lesser grade than their current grade, as of March 13, 2020, as a result of engaging in distance learning opportunities. Students may, however, be able to earn a higher grade as a result of engaging in distance learning opportunities, and if appropriate, may be assigned credit recovery, as an option. As further clarification: any assignment assigned on March 13 or before may contribute to the student's baseline grade prior to distance learning. Any assignment placed in the IC Gradebook from April 6 through the end of the school year can only serve to maintain or improve a student’s overall grade in the course.
We understand that families have many questions and concerns about resolving future impacts, graduations, promotions, end of year activities, refunds, retrieving items left at school, and more. We want to assure you that we will address these important issues in future communication. Our focus of this communication is to share about TVUSD's distance learning plans and everything associated with ensuring students and families have the supports they need for success. Next week is our transition week. Our main priority is to get our students and teachers connected and engaged in distance learning. This is an important step towards reconnecting and providing our students with a sense of normalcy. This is vital not only to their education but also to their social-emotional well-being.
Review Device Requirements - Does Your Child Have Access to A Device in the Home?
PLEASE NOTE Updated April 7, 2020, 12 Noon - TVUSD Device Distribution Request Forms Are Closed as of Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at 12 noon. We are now transitioning to direct contact with site principals to accommodate any further device requests for students. Please contact your school site principal by email to request a device. Please be sure to include your name, your child's name and grade level when submitting your request by email. - If you currently have a digital device, such as a desktop computer, laptop, Chromebook, IPad, Galaxy tablet or other Android-based devices that can connect to Chrome in your home available for your child’s use, you probably DO NOT NEED a district-provided device.
- If your child is serviced by an individual education plan (IEP) and has a designated assistive technology device per their IEP, you should complete an online device request form if not done already, so that their device can be retrieved and available for scheduled pick-up.
HOW DO YOU GET A DEVICE? FOR THOSE THAT HAVE ALREADY SUBMITTED AN ONLINE FORM
- If you have already submitted an online form to request a device, the school site will be contacting you directly to arrange for your scheduled device pick-up time. Each school is managing its own device pick-up schedules.
- Device pick-up is planned for Monday, April 6 - Wednesday, April 8, depending on the site.
- Please give the school sites until Monday, April 6 day's end before you contact them about a reserved device to inquire about your pick-up schedule if you have not heard from them.
HOW DO YOU GET A DEVICE? FOR THOSE THAT NEED TO SUBMIT A ONLINE FORM
- If you need to request a device, please use the online form links below. The forms will be available for submission on Monday, April 6 after 8 a.m.
- The school will contact you to arrange for your device pick-up.
- Please do not go to the school site without receiving contact and a scheduled appointment. The schools are adhering to a safe distribution plan that is dependent on limiting the number of individuals onsite at one time.
All device pick-ups will be a drive-thru process with a limited person to person contact.
Grades 6-12 students need to have their student ID for device pick-up.
Elementary students need to have a parent or guardian ID for device pick-up.

Home Internet and WIFI Resources

Low-income families who are unable to access any of the free services at home may qualify to receive a loaner device from TVUSD. Please contact TVUSD through our COVID19 Let's Talk assistance platform to inquire about a wifi device.

Care Solace is uniquely equipped to support you in your planning for COVID-19.
Those in need of support may call us 24/7 at 888-515-0595 or email us at email@example.com. We are ready to serve all people in need of services! Take advantage of the online and virtual therapy resources offered through Care Solace.
Reduce exposure by getting matched to an online therapist. Care Solace Care Concierge Team will handhold families through this process. Care Solace is open 24/7 to support families, students and staff in need and will assist them in finding available local resources.

Grab and Go Meals
TVUSD's Grab and Go meal service will be available for all TVUSD families beginning on Monday, April 6, 2020. Drive-Thru or Curbside Pick Up Meal Services will be held at three sites from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

- French Valley Elementary School: 36680 Cady Rd, Winchester, CA 92596
Students need to be present in the vehicle to receive meals.
