The mission of Cedar Grove Elementary is to grow our students into respectful, curious and productive citizens.
43 SCHOOL DAYS LEFT!
Yes, you read that right!
Welcome back from spring break! Hopefully you and your family were able to decompress, have some fun and recharge for the coming weeks ahead.
We have much to do over the next eight-ish weeks! It is hard to believe that there are only forty-three more school days left of the 2021-22 school year!
At Cedar Grove Elementary, we hope to structure the last leg of this year’s journey so we all arrive on the last day feeling accomplished, and happy that we made the trip together. We want our students learning as much as we can pack into the next two months, with a good dose of fun sprinkled in!
As we finish out this school year, I kindly ask that you ensure that your child demonstrates consistent daily attendance. I know that as the weather continues to improve, it will be tempting to take a day "off" or come pick up your child/ren early.
Every minute in school is valuable, and lost time translates into lost instruction, missed feedback and fewer social interactions with peers. It wasn't too long ago we all were wishing for our children to be back in school full time. Of any time in our history, we fully understand the positive impact of each "in-person" minute in school.
When spring fever hits (and it most certainly will), I offer the following suggestions to infuse some springtime fun into after school hours:
- Pick your child up? Surprise them with beach chairs in the trunk and head over the bridge for a late afternoon sun-soak! (Or an impromptu trip to a Monmouth or Ocean playground!)
- Child take a bus? Meet them at the bus stop with bubbles or sidewalk chalk. Blow bubbles or leave happy chalk messages on the sidewalk on the short walk to your house, or to make your neighbors smile!
- Child a walker? No problem. Spread out a blanket with some afternoon snacks, a board game or a soccer ball. Take turns sharing one good thing about each of your days. Sometimes the best time we can invest in our kids is during a good old conversation.
Thank you so much for your partnership. I am looking forward to a productive and fun spring!
~Mrs. Monetti
