Newsletter Week 9 Term 2
Huirangi Primary School, 28th June 2021
Kia Ora Koutou, Hello Everyone!
Having been absent from school for part of last week with laryngitis, I became truly aware of what a caring community I am part of at Huirangi School. The teachers and support staff held the fort and ran a tight ship while I was away, and the messages of well wishes was greatly appreciated.
It has been awesome to see the kids actively involved in different sports over the past few weeks. Part of my long term goals as Principal is to see the Huirangi children as participants in active learning to enhance their physical, and more importantly, their mental wellbeing. There has been a big emphasis on mental health in children in the media of late, and the Ministry of Education are also looking at ways schools can involve children in more activities that support the improvement of this as a nation. The New Plymouth Principals' Association in conjunction with Sport Taranaki will offer a variety of new sports and activities over the following two terms (aimed at our senior students), to just get out there, have fun and give it a go! It is a positive shift from just having the likes of rugby and netball available for kids to play.
Below is attached information about how to order a school hoodie. These are not compulsory, or intended to be a school uniform. As a Mum myself, I know I prefer less washing and less lost property!
Kia pai to wiki (have a great week)!
