Forest Lane Memo
Week of January 29
Dear FLCS families,
As we enter the month of February this week, I have a couple of updates to share:
- We have wrapped up our mid-year i-Ready testing session. Student data reports will be coming home shortly.
- Our school library, working in cooperation with Lamers bus company, has started a new reading program called Books on the Bus. Students who ride the bus will notice book pockets on the bus with books for them to read and even borrow. If students choose to borrow books, all we ask is that they kindly return them to the book pockets once they are finished so that other students can enjoy them.
- Our third reading and writing celebration is set for Friday, February 23.
Please read below to find out what is going on this week and beyond.
Best,
Liz Olson

MSD Winter Weather Guidelines
When the weather is severe, we want you to know how we will make decisions about closing school. The safety of our students is our top priority, and we follow a set of guidelines to make decisions about whether school will be open or closed.
School closings and delays will be announced on local television and radio stations, social media outlets, and through Infinite Campus Alerts and our school website.
Warm Up, Cool Down
Well, we were surprised with an end-of-the week warm up, but the cold Is sure to come back. Please remind your children about proper outerwear as we will be outside for recess any time that the temperature is at or above zero degrees real temperature.
When Should My Child Stay Home From School?
Staying home from school may help your child begin feeling better sooner, keep others
from getting sick, and will certainly save time and energy on phone calls, transportation
arrangements and groups of sick children waiting in the health room. If your child is sick, he/she must be fever, nausea and diarrhea free for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to school. This helps all of our students as it helps keep the illness out of school and away from other students. Your child’s health and safety are major concerns to us and we appreciate your understanding.
