Lightning on the Loop
I want to take a minute to remind everyone that when lightning is present, our staff and students will not be outside on the loop during arrival or dismissal. We will always position staff in covered areas to monitor arrival or dismissal but in the interest of safety, they will not be outside, uncovered.
In the event that weather (including active lightning strikes) causes a longer than typical arrival, we will delay assigning a tardy to our kids for a few minutes. Please remember that even and especially when the weather is off or when the lines are longer we should practice extra cautious driving. Thank you for helping keep our kids (and educators) safe.
Data is Coming
Please be on the lookout for communication from your child's teacher regarding their mid year assessments. Fifth grade families should anticipate their NWEA (MAP) reports by this Friday. Grades K-5 should receive their mid year data on Monday, March 6th.
- Report Cards will be shared after Spring Break.
Where in the World is Fifth Grade?
Next week, our 5th graders will be heading off to Allaso Ranch from March 6th-8th. I'm sure our 5th graders will have a great time. You should notice a lot less traffic on the café loop on Monday afternoon, all day Tuesday, and on Wednesday morning. If your child partners with a 5th grade friend or sibling for dismissal each day you will want to discuss how their dismissal routine will change so they aren't worried or waiting.
In anticipation of the 5th grade arrival next Wednesday afternoon, please expect a possibly crowded afternoon pickup especially if the bus arrival coincides with dismissal. We may need to ask for your flexibility and allow the buses clearance so we can get the kids and their gear unloaded. Thank you in advance for your help.
State Testing
Please be sure to check our STAAR testing dates on the year-at-a-glance shared below. If your child is in grade 3-5, please avoid scheduling appointments that will pull kids off campus on testing days. Any absence of a tester on a STAAR date will result in a required make-up test. The make-up window is through June and we are required to offer each child a testing opportunity even if they return on a day where other (fun) activities might be planned. On testing days, we will be unable to host visitors or volunteers and our schoolwide schedules will be different.
Thank you.
