Dual Language Students Present...

Bonita Vista Middle Students in the Dual Language Immersion Program invited their parents last week to attend an afternoon of Language Immersion. Student led conferences led IN SPANISH gave parents an overview of the lessons they have learned in their classes. BVM has a 50/50 Dual Language Immersion Program. Students in 7th grade take Science 7, World Cultures 7, and Spanish for Spanish Speakers, all class activities and instruction is presented in Spanish. The other three classes with instruction in English, are PE, Math, and their English class. Only students who demonstrated proficiency in both English and Spanish are in the program. The current Dual Language Immersion 7th graders have participated in their elementary Dual Language Immersion feeder schools for many years prior to their arrival at BVM. The Dual Language Immersion Teachers are planning, along with students and parents, a cultural event in December. Stay tuned. More to come.

BVM's Tri-M Music Honor Society

The TRI-M Music Honor Society of Bonita Vista Middle travelled recently to the Point Loma Convalescent Hospital to play for the facility's residents. Parents accompanied the students and had an opportunity to watch their children perform to an audience that received them warmly and greatly appreciated their talent and the time provided to entertain them. Crusaders, very nicely done!

How exciting is this!

In last week's Social Science Department's PLC, two students joined the Social Science department and shared with the staff their learning experience in the process of writing, annotation and how they learn from scaffolding activities.
