"In The Know" 2/28/2017
Nearing the completion of Spring Session I
We have started the "Communication-Collaboration” site visits with BCHS and LHS. Our discussions have been focused around finding CASAS scores, using CASAS style questions and celebrating our students' successes. It is great to meet and hear of the successes and challenges that we all face. We always leave with great insight and are able to take best-practices from each site to the next. Coordinators and support staff have begun looking at student hours and scheduling those who are eligible to be tested. Students may be tested before the end of this session but they will not change classes until the start of session II (after spring break).
One of the main take-away from our visits is that instructors often know their students best and may be another factor in whether their students are ready to test. Please communicate with your site coordinators of any students you may feel may be ready. Also, share with your students the reason for why we test them and if they are not ready at this particular time, they will have the opportunity to test after Spring Break as soon as they accumulate the eligible hours. We look forward to meeting with the rest of our instructors in the upcoming week.
