What's New in 3rd??
ELA - Students will be able to explain how the author creates relationships between ideas using sentences and paragraphs.
Important Academic Vocabulary:
Cause, Effect, Compare, Comparison, Sequence, first/second/third, Describe, Description, Descriptive details, Signal words
WRITING - We are starting to write book reviews. Students will write their opinions about a book of their choice with reasons explaining why.
MATH - FRACTIONS! Students are learning how to partition a shape into equal parts and represent each part in fraction form. They have been learning how to represent fractions on a number line. They are now comparing fractions and finding equivalent fractions.
Fractions will be a large part of their upcoming NC CHECK IN at the end of March.
