What you didn't know about Jenny Krnich!
How long have your been at Northgate and who did we steal you from? This is my twelfth year teaching: fourth at NHS, and the previous eight were at Clayton Valley (I graduated from there and returned bc I was Christine Reimer's student teacher and then sub when she went out on maternity leave 😊 ).
What did you do before teaching? I went straight into my credential program after graduating from Chico State, so I've always been a teacher in my adult life.
What did you study in college? My degrees are in American Studies and History. Masters is in Curriculum.
What hobby would you pick up if time and money were no matters? Hobby I'd get into...film photography. I'm still regretful I didn't take it in high school and college when I had free access to experts and dark rooms.
What was your worst job yet ever? Worst job was in high school at a learning center called SCORE!, where kids came to do a set of computer programs while the employees supervised. It was so boring and mindless that my two hour shifts felt never-ending.
You are the POTUS! Who is your cabinet? My Presidential cabinet would honestly include a variety of coworkers who were in the trenches with me at CV (you can probably guess who they are bc we never stop talking about it--sorry, Broncos!); our previous 'experience' in politics taught me a lot about myself and the kind of people I'd want around me for a situation like that.
If you could win an Olympic medal in anything, what would you win gold for? I'd win an Olympic medal for useless pop culture trivia or for clapping one-handed.
What is one small thing someone could do to make your day? Small thing to make my day would be a handwritten note, flowers, or coffee. I appreciate thoughtfulness!
What is your money dish for guests? The thing I usually make for guests that wins them over is a salad dressing, a vinaigrette that is asked for by everyone in my life. They call it 'Don's dressing' after my dad, but it's really my grandfather's recipe that he taught my dad, who taught me.
If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you choose and why? I'd choose our dog Elwood; he is my favorite animal on the planet. I tell my husband that we had a baby simply so I can take photos of him and the dog together :)
What's the best part of being a Bronco? My favorite part of being a Bronco--my co-workers and students. I feel so fortunate every day to work with such amazing, kind people who make me want to be a better teacher each day.
