Ms. McKim - Earl Lawson school counselor
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...
...the beginning of school! Let's all work together to make this school year at Earl Lawson a great one! Remember to be at school on time and ready to learn! There are going to be so many things to do, learn, participate in, and get excited about! Let's do this!
Upcoming school counseling information:
During the month of August, the counseling program will be focusing on friendships. This time of the year can make many students feel lonely, nervous and worried, and focusing on friendships will hopefully make that easier! We will be learning about how to make new friends, what a good friend is/isn't, how to make others feel included, and will also be touching on relational aggression. It is a great time of year to make new friends and learn more about people around us!
Meet Ms. McKim!
Hello! I am so excited to be the new school counselor at Earl Lawson! I look forward to working with your students, families, parents, and teachers! Let me tell you a little bit about myself:
I graduated recently from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a Masters degree in Counseling. I worked at an inpatient facility for children for many years, and really loved my time with them! I have worked with very difficult children, and have experience teaching kids how to cope, express themselves safely, increase self-esteem and self-confidence, and how to interact positively with others! I am very excited to be able to learn from and teach the students at Earl Lawson!
I will be providing counseling services by: doing individual counseling, leading small groups, teaching classroom guidance lessons, and organizing school-wide programs and events!
This will be a great year, and I am excited to learn alongside the students and staff here at Earl Lawson Elementary! Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or if you want to know more about me!
