An Update from Ms. McFall

Wheaton JH/HS Families,

I think we have moved passed out winter weather and we will hopefully start seeing warmer temperatures! Our students did a great job with AMI days and we appreciate all the parent support we had. Fourth quarter is always a busy time so be sure to follow our social media pages and the website to keep up with important dates.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Lunch Balance Information

We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting online payments through Paywat, a secure K-12 focused online payments provider. You can now conveniently manage, monitor, and pay your child's school meal balance online. The new online payment platform is available within your current Lumen Parent Portal, accessible from the school district's website. You will login to your parent portal to add funds to your student(s) accounts. If you have multiple children, no problem, you can add to all their accounts separately. You must have an email in our Lumen system for this to work. If you do not have one in our system please contact your child's building and that can be taken care of very quickly so you can utilize online payment. If you have any problems accessing your parent portal or if you need help navigating the online payment please contact us.

Attendance Policy

Having good attendance is imperative when it comes to our students success. It is very important that they attend school every day. Life presents challenges sometimes and we are absent but it is extremely important that your child be at school every day when they are able.

If you have to miss school, please remember, students are allowed 8 absences per semester. Students are encouraged to bring documentation upon returning to school for reason of absence in case the appeals process is needed (doctor's note, counselor's note, note from a parent, etc.).

If a student has excessive absenteeism they could be subject to attending summer school or losing credit.

Please see our handbook for the full description of our policy. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. McFall.

Lumen Parent Portal

The Lumen Parent Portal is a very important tool when it comes to the school and parent partnership. You can check you student's grades and lunch balance through this portal.

Grades are updated weekly by teachers. This is a quick and convenient way for you to find out how your child is progressing through the school year.

Lunch balances are updated daily through this portal. If you need to pay a lunch balance, you can do that through Dale at the HS office of Theresa at Central Office. If you need a free/reduced lunch form, please contact Dale.

If you are unsure of how to access Lumen as a parent, please contact the office.

Be sure to follow our Facebook page and website for weekly updates on athletics and activities.

Cell Phone/Electronic Devices Policy

Please partner with us on our cell phone/electronics policy. When students are being disrupted by their phones throughout the day, it makes it difficult for them to learn. We ask that if you need to get in touch with your child, please call the office phone and we can get them for you or get a message to them. If you text/call your child during the day, they are able to respond at the following times, passing time, lunch, and Bulldog Time if they do not have any Ds or Fs.

Passing Times:

9:06-9:10

9:58-10:02

10:50-10:54

Lunch- 11:42-12:16

1:04-1:08

1:56-2:00

Bulldog Time 2:52-3:15 (Students who do not have D/F grades can use their phones at this time)

Cell phones, headphones, ear phones, and smart watches must be turned off, put away and completely out of sight throughout the duration of class time. In the case of an emergency only, students will be allowed to use the school telephone to make phone calls.

Cell Phone/Electronics Violation

1st Offense- Item confiscated and can pick up at the end of the day

2nd Offense- Item confiscated and parent will pick up at the end of the day

3rd Offense- Item confiscated, parent pick up at the end of the day, and a minimum 1 day ISS
