NPBB - The Declaration of Operation
NPBB: No Plastic Bottles Building
This message is to adults as well as kids. About three weeks ago our PEN class started conducting multiple surveys on how many plastic recyclable water bottles are used at Doyle in a week. We collected 223 the first week, 192 the second week, and 148 the third. That’s an average of 201 bottles a week. This is very bad for the environment around us. On the fourth week we tried educating the populace of the school on plastic bottles. On our collection that week we got 185 water bottles. A solution to this is to use a reusable water bottles. It would significantly cut down these numbers if just half of the students used reusable water bottles. Now you might think that plastic water bottles are ok since they’re recyclable, but that’s not completely true. Most recyclable water bottles don’t get recycled and if they do just a couple non-recyclable materials can make the whole lode not recycled. Also a lot of bottled water is just filtered tap water. So we encourage you to use reusable water bottles for the betterment of the environment.

FAMILY PACER CHALLENGE
3rd Grade Parents: SAVE THE DATE!
Friday, February 12, 2016
Come and experience the PACER at our 1st Family PACER Challenge Night at Doyle! You can do your part to be heart smart, enjoy exercising with your family, and get oriented to the fitness assessment called the PACER (Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run). This mandatory fitness assessment for grades 3-6 involves running continuously between 2 points that are 15 meters apart from side to side to recorded beeps.
This school year, we are going to pilot this evening to a target audience, 3rd grade students and parents, as an orientation to this fun, heart healthy activity.
