Building your Professional Brand
Looking for ways to spend your time this summer? Why not think about how you present yourself, your skills, and experiences to potential employers!
There are several things you can do to start building your professional brand:
- Clean up your digital footprint: Whenever you share, like or comment online, you are building up a collection of information which employers can trace back to you. Try searching for yourself online and check the results. Remove anything inappropriate and make sure to check your privacy settings on a regular basis.
- Get your CV up to scratch: A well-written CV is vital for job applications - and it's never too early to begin putting one together. We recommend keeping a 'master' CV which you can update regularly and draw from when making applications. Take a look at our advice on writing CVs, including templates and examples to help get you started!
- Develop a LinkedIn profile: LinkedIn is a professional networking site where you can build an online CV, connect with others and search for opportunities. Take a look at these tips for getting started, and then try joining groups, following companies and reaching out to professionals in your field of interest.
- Join Saint Connect: Saint Connect is St Andrews global, online community - it's the perfect place to try out your networking skills with alumni who are able and willing to help! Why not take it further, and find a mentor to cheer you on through your career journey?
