Drop Off and Pick Up
Please do not bring pets to pick up or drop off your child. We have children with allergies, but we have also had instances where the dogs have gotten loose and really caused problems. I love my dog too, but please leave them at home.
*We continue to have quite a few students frequently tardy. Due to the age of our children, it is not usually their fault. Please reiterate the importance of getting to school on time with your children. This is an important life skill.
*if you know you'll be late and you know that your child is going to want a hot lunch ordered for them, please contact the office before 9:00 to order them a lunch. Orders after 9:00 are not guaranteed to be filled, since the food is delivered to us, we do not prepare the food at Hannum.
CoVid Information (new information)
Families will be notified if their child is found to have been in close contact with a CoVid positive case at school. If your child is found to be a close contact then they will have to quarantine for a period of time. More information will be given to you regarding your particular circumstances. Students may also be quarantined due to showing symptoms.
If your child is suspected of having CoVid or has symptoms that are associated with CoVid we can only accept a real time PCR test. Not an Antigen or Rapid test due to false positive results. Finally, we cannot accept alternate diagnosis anymore either. A student can have for example, strep AND Covid at the same time, so as of next week we have to have the negative Covid PCR test.
When students are quarantined, they will be given work for someone to pick up in the foyer of school. Students will get in invitation to a Homework Help Google Classroom to log on between 3:30 and 4:30 to get assistance from a Hannum staff member for work that they are struggling with. They just need to log on during that time and someone will be available to help them while they are quarantining.
The SHIELD Illinois program is a quick, simple, and non-invasive COVID-19 screening test. Students that have opted-in to the program will provide a small amount of saliva that is tested at a professional lab. Results of the test are then provided to families and our school district within the days following. The program offers students the opportunity to reduce or waive quarantine requirements in the event of close contact with a positive case or if the student demonstrates symptoms. You can opt-in to the program at any time by accessing Online Forms in Skyward Family Access. More information about the SHIELD Illinois program can be found at: d123.org/shield-illinois-testing-program

* The Book Fair this year was a great success! Thanks to all who supported and purchased from the Scholastic Book Fair. We sold over $6500 worth of books and misc. items of which we get 25% back in profit. We also qualify for the Buy one get one free for the next Book Fair in April 2022. This couldn't have been such a great success if it wasn't for our wonderful Hannum parents that put it together. Thanks to our Book Fair Coordinator Shareen Garcia and her awesome team of Adrianne Earley, Amanda Stone, Ailene Barkhoff, Carolena Garcia (OLCHS), Kaity Earley (OLMS), Lauren Evitt, Melissa Rosas, Laura Doody, Rebeca Boyer and Melinda McElrath. We hope you enjoyed our Spooktacular 2021 Book Fair as much as we enjoyed seeing everyone there :)
*Thanks to everyone who came out for Halloween Bingo and for all those that volunteered!
