Super Bowl of Caring

Will it be the Panthers or will it be Denver? No matter who wins the big game next Sunday, the real winners at JBE will our kids because of their giving, caring spirit. A group of students came up with this idea and we are hoping you will help be a part of this event. Beginning on Monday, February 1st, students have been asked to bring in PENNIES for PANTHERS or DIMES FOR DENVER. We want to see who can win the JBE Super Bowl of Caring and all money will be donated to a local charity. The winner will be announced on Friday at coffeehouse. While we are collecting pennies and dimes, students and parents are welcomed to bring in other coins and even paper money. It will be fun all week watching the SUPER BOWL fill up with coins.

Clothing Donations

Another way you can help our school is by donating any gently used clothing, shoes, coats and jackets. We keep a clothing closet for students in need, when students get sick, or if a student has had a restroom or playground accident. If you have any donations of children's clothing or shoes, boys and girls sizes 6 to 14, please feel free to drop them off at the front office anytime. We appreciate in advance any donations.

Snow Make Up Days

Hopefully the weather event of last week will be the only bad weather we have this winter. Our students may disagree with that last statement. Due to school missed on January 22 and January 25 because of that snow and ice, the make-up days for students will be on Monday, February 15 and Friday, March 11. These two days were built into the district calendar as potential make-up days for inclement weather.

PTSO Meeting

Our next PTSO will be meeting on Monday, February 1st at 1pm in the PTSO room. We hope you can join us.

Calendar Date Change

Due to some changes outside of our control, we are making some adjustments to the JBE fine arts calendar.

The Bulldog Chorus Spring Concert will now be held on March 22nd at 6pm.

The Bulldog Chorus Spring field trip will be on March 23rd during school.

The 3rd grade Fine Arts Night will now be held on March 29th at 6pm.

Mark your calendars. You certainly don't want to ever miss a JBE music event!

School Choice

The window for parents to request school choice is currently open and will remain open through Friday, March 4, 2016. Your child received a letter regarding the choice window on Friday. If your child is currently attending school under the choice program and will be returning next year, you do not have to complete a new application. In April, a letter will be sent to parents confirming that the student can continue enrollment at their current school. If your student is a 5th grader, you must apply for choice for your child to attend a middle school outside of your attendance zone. If you have a student who currently attends on choice and you have a sibling who will be starting kindergarten, a choice application will need to be completed for the rising kindergarten student. The choice application can be found on the district's website, picked up at your child’s school or picked up at the District Office.
