SBIRT SCREENING FOR GRADE 7: Jun 3, 2022

All Massachusetts Public Schools are required to implement the SBIRT screening program. The Attleboro Public Schools will be screening students in Grades 7 & 9. This screening is a brief and confidential conversation with students. The goal of the program is to let the students know that there is staff available to reinforce healthy decisions and to assist them in obtaining support if needed for substance use related problems. SBIRT screening is NOT a blood or urine test. All information is through a confidential conversation and will not be shared without written permission. No written record is kept of the conversation and no information that identifies any individual student is kept. Screenings WILL NOT result in any disciplinary action or be included in your child’s school record.

If you want to opt your child out of the screening you can write a note to your school nurse prior to the screening. Your child may also opt out at the time of the screening. Please feel free to contact your building nurse or counselor with any questions.
