Miss Turner's Star Student
This month our star student is Markell Greene! Markell has worked hard to make huge leaps with his reading this past month. He also has been making excellent choices and has gone above and beyond to be kind to his friends. Great job Markell! Keep it up!

What We're Learning
Math: This month in math we will continue to explore math story problems. These number story problems allow students to begin to explore addition and subtraction. We will also be continuing to practice counting to 100's by 1's and 10's. We check this monthly, so please continue to practice with your student at home!
Reading: We have begun to move on from letter sound and letter names. This month we will be focusing more on the beginning digraph sounds (th, sh, and ch). We will also continue to focus on rhyming, identifying the beginning sound of words. and writing to go along with that. If your student does not yet know how to write their first name please work with them to practice that. If they have mastered their first name, move on to their last name!
Science: In science, this month we will begin to discuss states of matter. Students will learn that water comes in the form of solids, liquids, and gases.
Social Studies: We will be focusing on people of the past and present. Students will learn to distinguish between events, people, and things from the past and from the present.
