Ball Park Newsletter #19
January 25 - 29, 2021
Principal's Message
I can not believe that January is coming to an end. It feels as if we just returned from our Winter Break. Thank you to the almost 50 parents that joined me during my Principal Zoom meeting last week. It is always a pleasure to be with you.
Here are some announcements for the week:
1. Middle School Asynchronous Day- This Wednesday, January 27, there will be no Zoom sessions for Middle School students due to a district teacher planning day. Please be sure to complete online asynchronous assignments in order to be marked present for attendance.
2. BOSS Showcase (See flyer below)- This Friday, Jan. 29, from 9:00-12:00 noon all middle school boys are invited to attend the online BOSS Showcase, a virtual field trip. The BOSS Progam is a free, long term mentoring program designed to equip boys, especially boys of color, with the tools to succeed. Email Mr. Madrigal if your child registers to attend, so that you will be marked present for attendance during those periods.
3. GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE WEEK- January 25-January 29. Our state Department of Education, along with the Great Kindness Challenge/Kids for Peace, encourages all of our classes to participate in this week’s anti-bullying initiative by creating a culture of kindness. Click here for easy ideas https://drive.google.com/file/d/15W9BAmgjAfn3QHoQkQ-NSLmopqI4BJpV/view?usp=sharing.
4. Middle School Minimum Days- Due to teacher professional development/planning sessions, our middle school students will have minimum day schedule with 1:00 dismissal each Wednesday and Thursday in February. Schedule:

5. One Week Left Before Final Grades are due
Be sure to ask your children to stay focused and complete all the assignments provided. If they have any pending assignments, make sure they contact their teachers before it is too late.
6. Vaccinations for LBUSD Staff
Educators will be eligible to start taking the Covid-19 vaccination starting on 1/25/21. This brings us a step closer to overall plans to be able to reopen schools in the near future.
7. Reopening Plan Parent Survey
Our District sent out a survey to all parents this past week seeking information regarding their interest in having their children attend in person instruction when it is allowable to do so. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey as it will provide us meaningful information as we start making necessary changes for in-person instruction in the near future.
Thanks again for all of your support to keep our students connected!
With appreciation for all of your support,
Salvador Madrigal
Principal
Horario:https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1I4kFg9IQDZjFkmN0CtrQYegWEkOeyHfpsoz2Wv8FrC4/edit?usp=sharing
Salvador Madrigal
