UPCOMING EVENTS
Hero Time 5/22
To encourage our students to continue meeting the school-wide expectations of Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible, we are planning a reward called "Hero Time" for May 22nd. Students who meet expectations leading up to this day will be invited to participate in fun activities such as air hockey, bean bag toss, scooters, etc.
Visit the Intermediate 5/22
Each fourth grade class will have the chance to go to the Intermediate School. There will be a short program, a walk through the building, and a time for questions. This is a great opportunity for students to see the new campus and get excited for fifth grade!
4th Grade Awards 5/25
Come see all that your student has accomplished this year! There will be two sets of awards for fourth grade.
9:30 AM-
Barreras, Powell, Burks, Teter, Openshaw, Bishop, Tucker
1:00 PM-
Lively, Wood, Lynn, Bahr, Haffelder, Stippick
Traffic Safety Reminders
As a reminder, cars are to enter the Burden campus, and only release students in our designated drop-off zones. By following these procedures we can ensure your student arrives safely under the supervision of Burden Staff.
Math
In math for the upcoming week we will be starting to review some NEW 5TH GRADE level material. We will be covering this through different station activities!
Science & Social Studies
In science we are still working life cycles and learning to compare metamorphosis vs incomplete metamorphosis along with being able to explain what stages different organisms go through.
In the final few weeks of Social Studies, we will be identifying the impact of various issues and events on life in Texas such as urbanization, increased use of oil and gas, the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and World War II.
Reading & Writing
In reading, we will begin looking at media. What is media? How can media influence people? What sorts of things does media do in order to influence people? How does media impact us as consumers?
In writing, we will use our study of media to help us understand and write our own persuasive essay.
