Voter Registration
As the district has done in previous years in all of our district buildings - community members and staff (and students who will be 18 years of age on or before Tuesday, April 6, 2021) can register to vote in any of our buildings. The following will be available to those eligible to vote at Compass Elementary, as well as other district facilities.
- Voter Registration Cards. These can be used for those who wish to register in Platte County or Clay County, depending upon where the voter resides. These cards can also be used in the event someone needs to change their address in order to vote in either Platte or Clay County (again, depending upon the county in which they reside).
- FAQs with regard to voter registration. We can provide one of these to anyone who completes a voter registration card.
Registering voters can also mail or take the registration cards directly to the Board of Elections (Clay or Platte) if they choose to do so.
The last day to register to vote to be eligible to vote in the April 6, 2021 Municipal Election is Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

Clarifications on Snow Days, AMI Learning, and AMI-X Learning
We know that some families have sought out clarification and understanding regarding our inclement weather days, AMI Days, and AMI-X days. Hopefully, the information below will help to provide understanding for these days when the district implements the use of them.
An AMI (Alternate Methods of Instruction) Day with remote learning means that students and teachers will still be engaging in instruction and learning on that day but rather than it being In-Person learning (face-to-face), it is remote learning through technology or non-technology related approaches. On these days the learning continues so we do not have to make up those days at the end of the year. The state has only granted us five of these types of days for the entire year.We have taken four AMI Remote Learning Days related to weather thus far this year so we have only one more remaining. Those days will not have to be made up.
There are some additional days that can be considered if the absences are related to the pandemic rather than the weather. The two AMI-Remote Learning days that we had prior to Thanksgiving do not count towards the aforementioned five days because those were taken as a direct result of the pandemic. These days are defined by the district as AMI-X learning days in order to designate them as related to the pandemic.
We also have inclement weather days in which remote teaching and learning does not happen. We had one of these days on Tuesday, February 16th because we were going to struggle to do remote learning with all of the power outages throughout the community. As a result, the district opted to make it a (no remote learning) inclement weather day. These days will have to be made up at some point and extra days are not always built into the schedule for this. The district will make up the snow day from 2/16/21 on the Good Friday, Friday, April 2nd. This was a day that we were not in session, but will now have school for the day missed on the 16th.
