Mason Gazette
December 8, 2017
Dear Mason Families,
Mrs. Collins' and Mr. Rohde's 4th-grade classes led our monthly town hall meeting this week. We read the book, What If Everybody Did That? written by Ellen Javernick and talked about our Character Word of the Month, Citizenship. Below you will find a link to the book (video of it being read aloud) so you and your child can enjoy it together this weekend. Our dinner conversation questions for this week are related to the story. Have fun enjoying this book at home.
Please don't forget about our Merry Morning at Mason that will be taking place tomorrow (12.9) morning from 8:30 am -11:30 am! Our PTO is very excited about the enhancements that have been made to this event and we can't wait for everyone else to experience them as well.
Have a wonderful weekend and Hoping to see everyone tomorrow,
Roy
Dinner Conversations:
-Why is it important not to always be a follower?
-What would school feel like if everyone had a bad attitude?
-What would school be like if everyone focused on Being a Learner, Being a Leader and Being Kind?

From The Office
December PBIS Behavior Challenge
Our Character word for the month of December is Citizenship and our PBIS Focus is Arrival/Departure and Attendance. Starting Monday, December 4th we would like to challenge and reward all students who make it till Christmas break without a single tardy or absence of any kind with a special attendance tag.
Attendance Reminder
We all run late occasionally, but please remember to sign your child in at the office upon arrival or let the office know if your student will not be in school by calling the attendance line at 313-432-4401 before 9 AM to report the absence.
Thank you for your help!
Drop off and Pick ups
Parents should say goodbye to their children outside of the building. We ask that parents do not enter the building with their child and accompany them to their classroom in the mornings. When there is an indoor admittance day due to rain or cold temperatures, please do not wait inside with your children. We have adult supervision present, and too many bodies make for an over congested and unsafe environment.
If you are picking your student up early please call the office ahead of time, meet your student in the office and sign them out. We ask that you not go to the classroom so we can minimize classroom disruptions. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping Mason safe during drop off and pick up.
Brrrr.......It's Cold Out!!
Mason students go outdoors for recess every day throughout the school year, unless it's raining hard or the windchill is below zero degrees Fahrenheit. Please be sure that your child leaves for school dressed properly for the weather.
Please dress your child with a hat and gloves and a winter coat when the weather is frigid. We also ask that you write your child's name on his or her gloves, hats, boots and coat. Our Lost and Found fills up quickly!
