A MESSAGE FROM MRS. MOLITOR
Hello Glendale Families!
The story for this month is: What Do You Do With An Idea? By Kobi Yamada
A New York Times Best Seller and award-winning book, What Do You Do With an Idea? is for anyone who's ever had a big idea.
This is the story of one brilliant idea and the child who helps to bring it into the world. As the child's confidence grows, so does the idea itself. And then, one day, something amazing happens. This is a story for anyone, at any age, who's ever had an idea that seemed a little too big, too odd, too difficult. It's a story to inspire you to welcome that idea, to give it some space to grow, and to see what happens next. Because your idea isn't going anywhere. In fact, it's just getting started.
I hope you enjoy it, and always remember to :
Be Safe
Be Responsible
Be Respectful

Glendale Elementary School Principal
C.A.R.E.S
Students at Glendale will be recognized for showing the CARES skills through out the school year. Adults can recognize students who are doing an excellent job demonstrating: Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy or Self control. Students who are recognized will be honored with a certificate, have their names announced at an All School Meeting, will be showcased in the Glendale monthly newsletter and will get to enjoy a cinnamon roll breakfast with Mrs. Molitor & the other recipients during morning meeting.

Hello Glendale Families, our indoor season of Physical Education is here. Please help your child remember to bring tennis shoes on their PE days, otherwise they are unable to participate due to safety for themselves and others. We have been busy in our classes. Grades 2,3,4 and 5 were able to participate in our Shuffleboard unit “GD Style”, while our 1st and 2nd graders were working on their locomotor skills and spatial awareness. 3rd, 4th and 5th are currently playing Pickle ball and our K, 1st and 2nd grades are working on throwing and tossing while playing Mega Battleship. Moonlight Bowling will be coming up soon...always a Glendale Favorite!
MEDIA-
This month in Media all grades have been focusing on digital citizenship and how to be safe, responsible and respectful online. We have been enjoying our read-alouds as well! Thank you for a successful book fair! We earned over $4,000 for new books for the Glendale Media Center!
MUSIC:
We have been busy in the music room! Kindergarten has been playing rhythm sticks and learning about high and low. First grade has been practicing new rhythms and playing rhythm sticks. Second and third grade have been learning about instrument families and the sounds they make. They loved playing Instrument Imposters! Fourth and Fifth grade have been continuing their work with note names on the staff, and are also learning about different genres of music. 2nd through 5th grade have also been playing a new instrument this month--Boomwhackers! They are having fun playing new songs and learning the science behind the sounds of the Boomwhackers.
COLD WEATHER APPEARAL
Dressing your child with warm clothes, hats, gloves, snow pants and boots helps students have a fun time in cold, snowy weather. **Students will always go outdoors for recess unless the "feels like" temperature falls below -5 degrees or it is steadily raining. Please help to make sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess each day!
**IMPORTANT: BE SURE TO LABEL YOUR CHILD’S JACKET, MITTENS, HAT, SNOW PANTS, AND BOOTS TO HELP PREVENT THEM FROM GETTING LOST!!
PTC CORNER
Hello Glendale Elementary Families!
Thank you to all of the generous families who brought food for staff during the fall conference potluck. Staff was extremely appreciative!
The PTC is busy working with teachers on classroom enrichment options as well as taking next steps on the indoor mural project ... both of which are possible due to the strong performance of our fall fundraiser. More fun updates coming soon on these!
We also have more restaurant nights coming up. Be sure to check your child's take home folders and watch our Glendale PTC Facebook page for nights to support our local restaurants as well as the PTC!
