From the PrinciPAL
Dear Parents, Caregivers, Families, and Friends,
Tis the season for Family/School Conferences, and we can't wait to meet with you! The SBSD school calendar designates November 21 and 22 as the days for conferences, and they will take place in your students' classrooms at RMCS. On November 21, conference hours are from 11:00 am - 6:30 pm, and on November 22, conferences can be scheduled between 8:00 am - 3:20 pm.
RMCS teachers also make themselves available between November 7-18 for conferences before and after school. Conferences will be 20 minutes long, and you can schedule them at a time that is most convenient for you.
We will use Pick A Time to schedule conferences. On November 2, I’ll send a link to parents and caregivers with the Pick A Time schedule. You'll need to create an account with your email address. To schedule a conference, simply type the name of your student and their birthday (mm/dd/yyyy). The teacher’s schedule will appear, and you will be able to select one of the available time slots for a conference. You'll receive a confirmation email with date, time, and location. Teachers will be able to keep an eye on how their schedule is filling up and will reach out to parents and caregivers if you haven't had a chance to sign up.
We really want to meet with you! If you are not able to attend in-person, please still use Pick A Time to schedule a conference and send an email to your child's teacher to request the meeting be held via Zoom. The teacher will send a link and you'll be able to meet at the scheduled time.
Of course, we are here to help! If you have trouble scheduling a conference, please call Sue or Lizzie in the Main Office at 652-7001, and they will assist. We look forward to seeing you!
Best,
Lissa

And they earned a movie day celebration today!
Miss Hilary and Mrs. Fontana's 5th Grade Performance
5th graders have been working on CRITIQUING our performance of our Canon “The Ghost of John” this month. Each class we record and listen to our performances. We have learned that CRITIQUE means to listen to and celebrate the things that we do well and also choose parts of the song that we can improve. For “The Ghost of John”, we practiced our UNISON singing, our CANON singing, PHRASING and DYNAMICS. Ask you young musician to explain those musical words to you!! Please listen to our progression and improvement over the past three weeks!! I am so proud of their work!
Mrs. Fontana’s 5th graders sing “The Ghost of John”. Check out the progression over time.
As always, thank you for sharing your children with me!

Thank you, Rotary Club of South Burlington!
This week, Rotary Club members John Buechler and Mike Keller presented RMCS administrators with one big check! A huge thanks to the South Burlington Rotary for their donation of $1,000 to be used to support students and teachers at RMCS. On Wednesday, November 2, they will be back with a gift for every 3rd grader. I'll keep that a surprise for now, so check out next week's Moose Memo for details and pics. The Rotary also sponsors the annual Ugly Sweater run, detailed below. It's events like this that allow Rotary to support our South Burlington Schools and Community. Check out how you can help the Rotary Club fundraise so they can continue to support the South Burlington community!

Library News from Mrs. Allardyce!
I wanted to update parents that we have increased the number of books students can borrow for several grades. Here are the new numbers:
- Kindergarten and 1st grade students may have 2 books on loan at a time.
- 2nd grade - 5th grade may have 3 books on loan at a time.
*If students are doing research or need to borrow extra books for something school-related, we can allow extra loans
Dismissal Tips
Drivers at afternoon pick up: It would be so very helpful to our parking lot monitors if you could post a sign with your student's name(s) on the passenger side sun visor which would be easy to see when flipped down. Our experienced staff recognize most cars and know a lot of the students, but on days we have new staff at dismissal, it's harder for us to announce student names without your help.
Remember to pull as far forward as you can. Extra adults who are outside will help direct cars forward. Please don't be offended. Our goal is to make dismissal a convenient and safe experience for all. Thank you!
Epic A.J.!
Can you help with Transportation?
My friends, SBHS Principal Patrick Burke and SBSD Bus Driver Mark Gabel, made this video about our current busing situation and I thought I'd share. If you can help, contact Transportation Services.
Thank you!

Free Lunch Eligibility Forms
You can help provide free meals to ALL students in future years
What? We are asking all families to please fill out this application for free and reduced price school meals.
Please fill this out even if you know you re not eligible. Why? If many families fill out and return this form, we will get more money from the federal government for free school meals now and in the future. We will also get more money for other school programs. Filling out this form also helps our community provide free summer meals to all kids.
How? Fill out the form and return it to the RMCS main office. You may also complete the application online in MySchoolApps if your student was previously enrolled in the district.

Upcoming Listening Sessions with the SBSD School Board
My colleague, Patrick Burke from SBHS share this video with families and I thought you'd be interested. Happy viewing, and make sure to contact Transportation Services if you can help.
November 3
The South Burlington School Board invites community members (including children!) to join them for several upcoming listening sessions! Board members would like to hear from students, staff, and the community about what they think is going well in the District, where there is room for growth, and what qualities they think would help ensure the success of a long-term Superintendent. Please consider joining one of the in-person meetings or the Zoom session. If you have questions, please contact the school board at schoolboard@sbschools.net or leave a voicemail message at (802) 652-7476.
The first session will take place in person only, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 10:00 am at 577 Dorset Street in the first floor conference room with board members Laura Williams and board Chair Dr. Travia Childs.
Additional sessions will take place:
Monday October 17 at 6 pm at the District Central Office
Saturday, October 29 at 10 am at the South Burlington Public Library
Thursday, November 3 at 6 pm via Zoom
