Seguin ISD CTC Weekly Update

Week of Jan. 11

TELPAS Rater Information

You will soon be receiving a list of TELPAS raters for your campus. These teachers are responsible for assigning ratings of beginning, intermediate, advanced, and advanced high for all applicable domains for all ELL students (including Parental Denials and SpEd) on their rosters.

You are responsible for reviewing the list for accuracy and ensuring that they complete their Online Basic Training course and Calibration activities. Provide each Rater with their TELPAS Rater manual by January 18.

The Online Basic Training course, mandatory for all new raters and returning raters who have not completed calibration activities within the last three school years, will be available for viewing in the TELPAS Online Training Center beginning Jan. 25. Approximate completion time: 4-5 hours.

Online Calibration, required for new and returning raters, must be completed in a monitored session (new for 2016). TELPAS CTCs will be required to set up training dates for these sessions during the calibration window. Approximate completion time: 1-2 hours. After successfully calibrating, raters should print out their certification of completion and submit to their CTCs.

NEW for 2016: If a rater does not successfully calibrate after two attempts, s/he will be assigned a second rater to collaborate with and ensure that students are assessed consistent with the PLDs.

More information will be provided at the Jan. 25 training for CTCs, TELPAS CTCs, and LPAC administrators.
