Thank you to our Danielle, Wendi, and Regina for organizing Family Safety Night! A PRIDE grant helped fund this event!
Mark your calendars...Kick off Read Across America on Friday, February 1st with a Reading Pep Rally at 2 pm in the APR. All grade levels.
Cell Phones....we've had many issues with student use of cell phones. Please take a minute and remind students they should be turned off or silenced and remain in book bags. Also, students should not be taking them out on the playground. Let us know if you have any students who we need to speak to.
Please remember the Nurse's Office is closed from 1:50-2:50. Please send any students that need a nurse visit to the Main Office during this time.
TECH TIP OF THE WEEK
Do your students Create with Chrome?
Consuming is easier than creating. That’s why watching TV is so much easier than writing a script for a TV show.
A recent report by GoGuardian suggests that most classroom Chromebook usage is focused on learning games, flashcards, and watching videos. While these activities aren’t inherently bad, they aren’t terribly inspiring or creative and don’t help students develop important 21st century skills.
The act of creation is one of the most powerful ways to internalize learning. That’s why teacher are so smart – we are creating things all the time!
Here are six ways that you can encourage student creativity with Chromebooks.
Words of Wisdom
The desire to reach for the stars is ambitious. The desire to reach hearts is wise.
~ Maya Angelou
It takes ambition to reach a big goal in life. It takes motivation, goal-setting, and a sense of purpose. And that is exactly what it took for us to become educators. We had ambition, perseverance, and a desire to reach young minds. We wanted to help shape the future of the next generation and make a difference in the world; a noble desire that took ambition to fulfill. The bonus for us as educators, is that we are in the marvelous position to not only teach young minds, but to reach young hearts. Today, make the decision to reach out and touch the hearts of your students, a wise aspiration indeed.
With something to think about . . .
Remember to take care of yourself.
To reach the hearts of others, we must first be in touch with our own. This week, fulfill at least one small desire of your heart.
Happy Birthday!
