Farmington Family Newsletter
February 25th, 2022
Message from the Principal
Hello!
The month of March contains a celebration of luck: St. Patrick's Day. We are all so lucky to be part of a learning community like Farmington. Our students come to school each day surrounded by adults who care about them and their learning. Our staff get to work at a building with colleagues who support one another and believe that we are all learners. And we hope our families feel lucky to be a part of our school community where they feel welcomed and heard.
As families there are several opportunities to be sure that any concerns or suggestions you have area heard. If you have a topic that is classroom related, please reach out to the classroom teacher by phone or email. If you have an idea or want to participate in school-wide events, the PTO Board would be very happy to have you at the monthly meeting! Our PBIS committee is looking for input from you. Please be sure to take a moment and complete the survey linked below.
We are so happy to have you as a partner in your child's learning!
Take Care,
Principal Petersen

Elementary Transition Update
We have created and published a web page to communicate with staff and families on the Elementary Transition process. There is a link on the top navigation bar on the home page or you can click here. We have an FAQ on the website that included questions that came from the listening session. As we receive more questions, we will add them to this document. We also created a Rumors document to address some of the rumors that have been circulating, and we will update this document as needed.
One of the major questions that many people had related to what the District planned to do with the property. The Board decided to put the property up for sale. We will be posting a sign in front of the building to advertise the sale of the building. We will also be advertising the sale as well. We will be collecting closed offers until April 29, 2022. The Board will look at the offers at the May 12 Board meeting. They will have the opportunity to make a decision on if they would like to accept any of the offers at that time.
We have opened up our window for Parent Initiated Requests for an Intra-District Transfer a little early this year. If you are interested in putting in a request, please contact your building principal for more information.

Reminder:
- Please contact the office via phone call or email by 3:00 to make changes in regard to how your child(ren) will be getting home that day.
Thank you for all you do to support your child's education at home. If you ever have questions or suggestions, please feel free to reach out! We want you to reach the school and person you are trying to contact at FES quickly and efficiently. Please consider adding our school phone number to your phone contact list: 1-262-626-3102.

The week began with Opening Ceremonies which included teams creating replicas of their country's flag and participating in a parade lead by our torch, Mrs. Petersen!
Students enjoyed making new memories and sharing a lot of smiles and laughter as they represented their countries! Teams worked together to complete a variety of Olympic themed activities during the week.
Student Services Updates
From Our School Counselor (Mrs. Klenner) and School Psychologist (Mr. Erdmann):
This past month's presentation with Dr. Dana on Mental Health Basics had a great turn out both January 31st and February 7th. It was great seeing so many engaged families! If you missed this round of presentations, feel free to click on the link to see a recording of the presentation from January 31st.
The months of January through March can be tough. The winter blues may start to set in as the kids get "stir crazy" without the outlet of being able to spend ample time outdoors to counteract the energy they have pent up. Effective communication may be dwindling and conflict may be on the rise. Stress may begin to build up throughout the household and in the school environment as there is an increase in behaviors due to underlying frustrations and "winter fatigue". Attached is an article focusing on how you can assist your child through some of these stressful situations in a dignified way.
If additional assistance is needed, feel free to contact your child's teacher, school counselor, school psychologist, or principal, who are all here to help your child through the stressors s/he may be experiencing and problem-solve healthier, more productive ways to cope.
