The Seven Most Significant Events
By: Maelyn Huebert
I was born on September 22, 1994, in Henderson, Nebraska. I came into the world and was a blessing for my family. I love my life and content with where I am. I am also very thankful for everyone in my life.
Becoming a Christian
I am not sure the exact year that I became a Christian, but it was at Swan Lake Christian Camp. We were all gathered around the campfire and I knew it was time to ask God into my life. I have grown more and more closer to God through this experience. I have also done service trips that have expanded my walk with God. God has always been with me in my life even when I do not feel like he is all the time.
Death of my Father
When I was seven years old, my father passed away from colon cancer. I did not know what to do or think when he was gone. I lost contact with God through this because I could not believe that he could just take my father from me. I know God has a plan for my life and that my father is in a better place. He does not have to suffer anymore. I was so thankful for the love and support people showed toward my family and I. God put people in my life to help me through struggling times and has really left an impact on me till this day.
Moving to Town
Almost right after my father died, we moved to town. My father never wanted us to live so far from town especially when he was sick. I loved living in town and seeing my friends more often. I also loved being close to my grandparents and it was so handy when it came to school activities that I was involved in. We only lived in town for about two years before we moved to the country by Bradshaw.
Phil marries my mother
My mother started dating Phil not too long after my father passed. She did not like the idea of her children growing up without a father figure in their life. At the beginning, I hated Phil. I did not want another dad and I definitely did not want Phil to replace my own. I did not like when they were together and it was a very hard time for me. Times have changed for the better though. As I grew up, I learned to love Phil and accept him as my father figure. He is a great guy and does so much for me. I am so blessed by him and his family.
After my sophomore year in high school, I had the chance to go to Europe. I played my saxophone there and had a blast. Right before I left, I was very scared. I did not know what was going to happen and I did not really know anyone I was with. I am so glad that I went though. I had such an eye-opening experience that I will never forget. Seeing another country is amazing! I traveled to London, France, Austria, Leichtenstein, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. I made some really good friends that I still stay in touch with. I am so glad that I decided to go on this adventure.
Choosing a college
It was very hard for me to decide what college to go to. I have always wanted to pursue my life as a registered nurse. Ever since I was young, I have wanted to go to Bethel College. This year, everything changed. I did not like the fact of being far from home and I did not want to be stuck in Kansas my whole life. It just never felt quite right when I was there. I know I made the right decision to go to Midland in Fremont, and I am excited to see what is store for the rest of my life.
