The Hall Way...
Hello Northwood families!
We know that we were expecting Monday to be different. In addition to being an educator in D200, I am also a parent of a D200 student. I feel for our students, our families, and our teachers and staff. As you know we will be remaining remote at this time, but will be moving to a modified schedule beginning Monday, 10/19. The move to this modified schedule will be a change, but we will support our students as they adjust to the new schedule.
The modified bell schedule is included below and will be sent to the students as well. There also is a video linked below with a quick overview of the bell schedule. In this remote schedule, all students are expected to log on every day in the morning and the afternoon, regardless of whether your student is a Group A, B, or R student. Please remind your student to check out the student newsletter and the daily morning message from Mr. Baier so they know which classes to attend each day as they adjust to the new schedule.
Please know that the Northwood staff has worked very hard to prepare for the return to in person learning. Our building is set up and ready to go for students, and our staff is ready to teach in person whenever the McHenry County Health Department Metrics tells us we can safely return.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff. Please never hesitate to reach out if you need help with anything. Warhawks take care of each other and we are here to work together and support each other. Have a wonderful and groovy week!

All Hybrid students’ parents must use the Parent Portal each day to verify the symptom checker when we move to in-person learning. Have you signed up for the Parent Portal yet?
Parent Portal vs. Canvas Observer: What's the Difference?
District 200 uses two platforms to both instruct and report grades. Your Canvas Observer account allows you to see course work that is occurring in your student's classes. In Canvas, you will be able to see assignments, quizzes, and material being covered in class. You can also receive email alerts about announcements your student's teacher makes to the class.
In your Parent Portal you will be able to see your student's overall grade in a course as well as individual assignment and assessment grades. While you may not be able to see the actual assignment like you would in Canvas, you can still see some short details about the assignment by clicking on it. The Parent Portal also allows you to see some basic information about your student in the district, such as attendance and their schedule.
For help with either of these platforms, or to get signed up with an account, please contact the school.
Food Services News
District 200 will continue to provide free meals to ALL D200 students, regardless of free, reduced-price, or paid status.

News from the Nurse
6th grade physicals and immunizations are still required for this school year. Information on the requirements can be found below. Please send the paperwork to our school nurse, Mrs. Kaszubowski, at skasubowski@wcusd200.org or you can drop it off at the school between 8 - 4.
Students in the In Person Hybrid groups MUST have their health requirements turned in ASAP or they will need to remain remote when we return to In-Person Learning.
NMS Library
Our online book fair has concluded. Thank you for your support!
Writing Club will be meeting on Wednesday, October 21st, from 3:30 to 4:30. Please be sure to check the Writing Club Canvas announcement on Wednesday for Google Meet information.
Writing Club will not be meeting on October 28th.
Do you have overdue library books? Please return them during the school day in the blue return bin outside of Northwood's front door. The return bin will be outside during school hours unless it is raining, stormy, or snowing. Thank you!
Thank you to our NMS families for supporting our students and staff during remote learning. We appreciate you!
How can the NMS families stay connected and informed?
During this time we are trying to provide different opportunities for communication with our students and families. So where can you go to stay informed?
