May 2015
Dear Lincoln Families,
I can't believe that we are in our final month of school. It has been an exciting year filled with so many wonderful experiences, adventures, learning and fun! AND, we are not done yet!! We have more to learn and many more accomplishments to celebrate, events and activities to look forward to throughout the month of May as we quickly approach the end of the year. Please take a moment to update your calendar with all of our exciting activities!
As April came to a close we had students participate in the Tri-County Regional Science Fair. These students qualified by winning the Lincoln Elementary Science Fair in February. Our students competed with other 4th and 5th grade students from Lincoln, Warren, and St. Charles Counties at Francis Howell North High School on Saturday, April 25. One of our projects took home an award! Fifth Grader, Kate Reiter received 2nd Place for her project exploring surfaces affected by E-Coli. Way to Go!! Congratulations to all our students who participated in both our local and regional science fairs!
The State of Missouri MAP Assessment for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students is well underway, with the majority of our testing sessions completed. We are very proud of our Kindergarten and First Grade Students who completed the Iowa Test of Basic Skills in late April. We will continue our testing next week with 5th grade Science. We encourage all students to be in attendance each day with well rested minds and bodies! We know that our students and teachers have been working extremely hard all year long, and this assessment is an opportunity for students to show off their knowledge and skills! Individual student results will be made available after school dismisses for summer. You will receive notification from the our school office once they are available and ready for pick up from our school office.
Do you have summer plans? This summer the Lincoln County R-III School District is hosting Summer Journey! Summer Journey is available to all incoming Kindergarten students through 8th grade. This is an opportunity for students to continue their learning through hands-on courses. The program runs from May 28 to June 30 (no sessions on Friday's in June). Our Lincoln Leopards, who sign up for Summer Journey, will attend right here at Lincoln Elementary. Transportation is provided, however space is limited! The deadline to enroll in Summer Journey is Friday, May 8th . If you need more information please don't hesitate to call our office.
We want to extend a BIG “thank you” to all of our wonderful parents and volunteers for all the support you have provided this year. You have been there for field trips, parties, PTO events, movie nights, fundraisers and so much more. Without you, many of these would not have been possible. We are so grateful to have you as a part of our school community!
Thank you for your partnership in education and for sharing your child with us this year. Have a FUN and SAFE summer! Don't forget to take some time to relax with a good book!
Yours in education,
Ms. Ellis, Principal
Mr. Schultz, Assistant Principal
