October is Bullying Prevention Month
October is a month designated for many events such as: Breast Cancer Awareness
Month, Disability Awareness Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and many more! It also
hosts Red Ribbon Week for Drug and Alcohol Prevention which has been wonderfully
implemented through Mr. Rendell’s Fitness Week !
This month as a school, we would like to focus on Bullying Prevention Month. The theme will be the ongoing implementation of “Start with Hello ”. This is a Martin County School District Initiative under the umbrella of our Mental Health Plan of Prevention & Intervention.
Start with Hello
Start With Hello is a youth prevention program designed by the Sandy Hook Promise that promotes social inclusion and community connectedness in hopes to reduce bullying and gun violence. It is themed by 3 tasks:
- SEE someone alone
- REACH OUT and help
- START WITH HELLO
Unity Day
In the following weeks of October, team members will be promoting Start With
Hello through Enrichment Classroom Lessons, Skits, and Morning Announcements
collaborating with local high school students and iStand Club members led by Mrs. Moody .
Our school collective demonstration will be on Wednesday October 24th for Unity Day
where we will wear and share orange to show that we are together against bullying and
UNITED for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion!

School Safety
Ensuring safe learning environments for elementary and secondary school students, educators, administrators, and others is essential. Everyone – whether a member of the school community or even a resident of the local area – has a role in identifying potential threats to a school and sharing that information with those who can take action to assess and manage the risk posed. Please review this document from the United States Secret Service on Making Schools Safer.
