Clinton-Massie Senior Josh Hurley Named National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist

This year the National Merit Scholar Corporation announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semi-finalists in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.

Clinton-Massie Senior Josh Hurley has been recognized as one of these elite Seniors to be recognized for this honor. Josh is very involved in the CMHS Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, and Winter Percussion. Josh is very creative, charismatic, and clever. He is known for his wit and sense of humor. Josh desires to pursue a career in film production at Ohio University next year.

Falcon Time Creates Many Service Opportunities for Students

New to Clinton-Massie High School this year is a daily 20 minute Falcon Time period that focuses on providing students opportunities for academic support, leadership development, character education, and service to others. Many classes have chosen initiatives to give back to others around them and to their community as a whole. Students have collected money for several charities, led food and clothing collections, and have even cleaned up their own campus.
