Message from the WGHS Admin Team
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers,
Happy New Year and welcome back! We hope that you had a wonderful vacation that included plenty of time to relax with family and friends. It is hard to believe that we are getting ready to close out the first semester of the school year. This past week, while students were out of the building, some work was done at the high school to get the PA system working. Wiring was changed, an auxiliary box was replaced, and there was a lot of testing done. We are hopeful for a much less eventful return to school now that the rogue system is repaired!
As we close out the semester, it is a great time to check in on your student’s progress on Synergy. This is especially important for those in a one semester class! Please encourage your students to utilize Interaction Time, get caught up on assignments, and check in with their teachers. Let’s finish strong and have a great month!
Sincerely,
The WGHS Administrative Team
Social Media and Cell Phone Usage
Social Media and proper cell phone usage is an ever-changing landscape for students, staff, parents and our community. We are continually learning about the latest capabilities, both positive and negative, of the social media platforms our students are using and their impact on our school community as a whole.
As we continue to monitor and explore options that will allow us to educate our students best at WGHS, we would also like to share appropriate resources to parents and students so the discussion can make it into our families' discussions at home. A significant resource we have found is www.internetmatters.org which has articles and guides specifically tailored for parents to educate and help with discussions about safety and proper usage with their children.
As we continue to move through the school year, we will continue to highlight articles and guides to assist with these important discussions at home. Proper use on Social Media as well as proper cell phone usage in general has become foundational in the development of teenagers and young adults. We are dedicated to ensuring that WGHS is a safe space to learn and will continue to work in partnership with families to educate students on the dangers of social media and improper cell phone use.
Spirit Week Success!

Student Forum
On Thursday December 8, WGHS held its first student forum of the year. The forum was planned and run by students giving the opportunity for them to share with their peers and faculty their perspectives and feelings on the happenings in our building and the community at large. The forum was a great success with many students and staff attending to support and hear from the student speakers. Future forums are already being discussed to continue an open dialogue between students and staff at WGHS.
WGHS Course Fair 2022-2023
The WGHS Course Fair was a huge success! The Course Fair is an opportunity for us to showcase our elective courses that are offered at WGHS. Departments set up tables and do demonstrations, provide materials, talk with students, and highlight all that their courses have to offer. Tables are run by both staff and students! The idea is that students have an opportunity to explore their options before beginning the registration process with their counselors at the start of second semester. All materials are available on our WGHS Course Fair Google Site! Check it out HERE! Thank you to Principal Vaughan and Administrative Assistant Fisher for making it all happen.
