How to make effective decisions. By Luke Wighton
Types of Decision Making Strategies
There are five main ways that humans address and make decisions.
Some of these include:
- Painful
- Impulsive
- Compliant
- Delaying
Painful
The painful decision making model is when time is wasted and negative emotions are felt while making a decision. This model generally does not lead to a decision.
Impulsive
The impulsive decision making model is when no planning is done to make a decision. These decisions are made quickly and are generally poor due to lack of information.
Compliant
The compliant decision making model is when a person allows others to make the choice for them. This model doesn't give the person the ownership of the decision.
Delaying
The delaying decision making model is when a person a person procrastinates and delays making a decision. Delaying a decision can lead to negative outcomes like loss of control and unwanted outcomes.
